Mix 05 - Dub, Techno, Deep
This mix has a few flavours of modern dub. It starts of with a nice instrumental jazzy vibe and moves in electronic dub, some deep & minimal techno, ambient & psychedlic. Just tried to keep the dub influence there so bring up the bass a notch or two!

Created by the psychedelic trance pioneer Simon Posford and Benji Vaughn...
... the mastermind behind Prometheus and The Egg.
The pair team up once again to create their second album, a
breathtaking album with stunning sound production, that takes listeners
on an incredibly varied musical journey.
'The
Last Days Of Gravity' is a unique melee of electronic, acoustic, and
vocal music, running the gamut of beautiful, strange, catchy,
psychedelic, melancholic, uplifting. Despite its consistently
psychedelic tone, the album has a very human element to it, and you can
sense the spirit and emotion that have gone into its creation.
The harmonic variety of 'Last
Days' is particularly mesmerising. The bindingly riveting melodic lines
provide echoes of Posford's earlier work in Shpongle and Celtic Cross,
as well as of his more recent collaboration with the legendary Alan
Parsons. This album is no retro piece of work, however, with Posford
and Vaughn's legendary innovation resulting in a complex mix of styles
that eludes genre-casting. Despite having no obvious dance numbers,
'The Last Days Of Gravity' provides enough levity to be the perfect
soundtrack to the richness of daily experience.

Song IDs
I've got some old tapes & minidiscs from years ago with lots of songs & samples of the radio.
Since recording them, I've managed to find most of the ones I liked, but there's still a handful I've never been able to identify, so I'm looking for your help & expertise to help me!
A mix of styles from latin, funk to some kind of trance type stuff...
Please post a comment if you think you recognise any!
I've included a track number & brief description.

My Band
I Started jamming with Maria back in Feb 07, her on drums & me on bass. We decided to get a band together. Aiming to play Soul, Jazz-Funk, Blues style music, based on a good groove.
So we went through a few months of auditions, looking for keys, guitar & vocals. After a pretty large amount of people we picked up new members gradually, giving us Tomasso on Keys, Michael on Geetar and Tam on vocals.
Once we had all the right people on board, we started picking a setlist and through trial & error came up with over 20 tunes we're happy with. Stuff from Sly & The Family Stone, The Meters, The Breakestra, Jamiroquai & more. Adding lots of our own uniqueness & improvisations.
We're starting out with cover, not your run of the mill ones mind you. And once we have them down we'll start writing our own material as we gel more & more. We're available for all sorts of gigs from now, music bars, clubs, pubs, corporate, parties, weddings, 21st, bar mitzvahs...
We've been doing some serious practice over the last few months and we're ready to hit the road! So we've 5 gigs ready for the months of Oct & Nov so far & ready for more.
The Name: Everyday People (Click here for our myspace)
... and some outdoor charity gig off O'Connell St. somewhere on 10th Nov!
Here's a vid from the gig in Slatterys
Hope to see you at them!

Mix 03 - Funk Revival
Another mix, well overdue.
Here's one to show that real funk is still alive and kicking.
A longer one than usual gathering tunes that could be branded as Nu Funk, Funk Revival and some other third thing.
With a hint of Afrobeat and Soul too!
All songs...I think.. are from the last 10 years or so.

Mix 02 - Blue Note Mix
About 8 years ago I was given some Blue Note compilations on vinyl, so I wiped the dust off the old pioneer stereo, and the record player was still in good nick.
I played these records for a few weeks and really started loving this sound that was new to me.
I gotta say not every song on them was great but each disc had a few gems that have been favourites of mine ever since.
Here's about an hours worth of some of those songs I love, picked from a few different blue note compilations. (The 'Capitol Rare' series, the 'Blue Break Beats' series, Blue Juice, Blue Funk etc.)
It's a pretty laid back mix so put yer feet up and enjoy.
